Organic Wine Estate on the Tuscan Coast

Twenty-eight hectares of vines above the Tyrrhenian, and a cellar already running. In the Val di Cecina near Montescudaio, a short drive from the Tyrrhenian coast, an organic winery across roughly 76 hectares of hillside. The working core is 28.2 hectares of vineyard on two plots, planted to eight varieties, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot in red, Viognier and Roussanne in white, producing up to 240,000 bottles of Costa Toscana IGT a year. One vineyard has a natural spring with a storage basin and drip irrigation, which in this part of Tuscany is worth more than it sounds. The remaining land is 18.3 hectares of arable, available for further planting, and 35.5 hectares of woodland. The cellar of 330 m² is modern and partly underground, laid out in three areas, winemaking, barrel store and packaging. Above it sits a guesthouse; beside it a covered patio of 78 m² for dinners and events, which also carries the solar array. The farmhouse of 298 m² has been fully restored and split in two. The ground floor is the commercial side: offices, tasting rooms and a shop for the estate’s wines. Upstairs is the house, a living room with open kitchen, three en-suite bedrooms, and a turret currently used as a study. An orangery of 42 m² in metal and glass stands a little apart, used as a summer sitting room. Bolgheri is twenty-five minutes.
